Business groups have criticised business secretary Alok Sharma over a new letter from the government urging firms to “check the latest guidance” if they are moving goods into or out of Northern Ireland – saying firms still do not know whether tariffs will be levied on goods when the Brexit transition period ends, or what procedures will be in place for goods moving to and from Northern Ireland. The Food and Drink Federation said the advice was “beyond belief”, while the Federation of Small Businesses criticised “exhortations” in place of meaningful help.
